Safety is a culture at Summit Line Construction, where no amount of production or quality success will make up for a safety deficiency. We are committed to a zero un-safe act philosophy. Summit has instituted a number of safety barriers to help achieve success in this philosophy and keep our team members out of harm’s way.
In order to achieve zero un-safe acts, executive leadership empowers the safety department and all employees to exercise authority and intervene whenever a hazard is identified or a safe procedure is not being followed. All company managers make regular crew visits where audits are performed, safety talks are held and areas of improvement are discussed. The crews’ participation in our near miss and job site improvement reporting program is another key ingredient to achieving safety success. Human Performance Tools are also utilized in our efforts to continuously improve our safety program. Communication of lessons learned and job site improvements are broadcast to all crews during our weekly safety meetings which are conducted by our Executive Team. Electric utility work is always hazardous, but only becomes dangerous when hazards are not identified and safe work procedures are not followed.
