Summit Line Construction Helps Restore Power to the East Coast LONG ISLAND, NY (Nov. 9, 2012) – Summit Line Construction, headquartered in Heber City, Utah, is helping out in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, the largest Atlantic hurricane on record. 15 Utah-based Summit Line Construction employees have been working day and night to get the lights back on in the New York area.
Crews from the company had been working on the National Grid project near Lockport, New York, for close to a year when Hurricane Sandy forced management to put that project on hold. “Our crew is here, we have the equipment necessary and we are willing to help,” said Summit Line Construction General Foreman and Utah resident Brett Beverage. “LIPA reached out to us for some much-needed disaster cleanup on the Long Island seaboard, and for the last week we have been restoring overhead distribution feeders and taps, sub transmission and U.R.D., and cutting out fallen trees. It has been a long road, but we have the knowledge, capability and determination to get the job done.”
Summit Line Construction’s line crews are a skilled team of professionals from the West with expertise working on high-voltage transmission systems. “Crews are working extremely long hours and in very dangerous conditions. Lack of resources such as materials and accommodations have made this very difficult on my men,” said Operations Manager, and Utah resident Loren Chandler.
As a cold winter storm hits the already devastated East Coast, Summit Line Construction is sending its unique linemen and electrical skills where there are most needed to ensure the people of the East Coast are well taken care of. “I know the capabilities and the work ethic of these crews and how diligently they will work until power is restored,” said Heber City resident Redgie Probst, director of Summit Line Construction. “No one deserves to be left in the dark. We will be persistent until the lights are back on.”
